Ground Breaking Ceremony (Salong) before reconstruction of Karma Raja Maha Vihar.

On April 25th, 2015, the Karma Raja Maha Vihar Monastery, on the northern side of the Swayambhu complex was badly damaged by an earthquake in Nepal and required immediate demolition. Now that all permissions and documents are in place, we are truly happy to announce that we are ready to begin the reconstruction process.

Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Karmapa who is the Spiritual leader of KRMV Monastery was requested by the board members of KRMV to conduct the ground breaking ceremony before the rebuilding. His Holiness Karmapa appointed the Venerable Lama Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche to lead the ritual.

On the auspicious morning of December 1st, 2017, Lama Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche together with several Venerable Rinpoches, lamas and members of KRMV Board conducted the Salong ritual on the site of the monastery.

After the Salong Ritual, all the guests and members of KRMV board were invited for breakfast in the office of Karma Raja Maha Vihar. After the meal, Mr Rajendra Lal Manandhar presented an update on the process of obtaining the documents for the reconstruction of the Monastery and briefly provided details of the forthcoming construction schedule.
